Horace Grant was a key member of the Chicago Bulls dynasty that dominated the NBA during the early 1990s, combining rebounding, defense, physicality, and reliable interior scoring.
Selected with the 10th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft, Grant developed into an essential part of the Bulls alongside Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
His defensive versatility and ability to control the boards provided crucial balance to Chicago’s superstar-led offense. Grant also became instantly recognizable for the protective goggles he wore on the court, creating one of the most distinctive looks of the Bulls championship era.
Under head coach Phil Jackson, Grant played an important role as Chicago captured three consecutive NBA championships in 1991, 1992, and 1993.
During the 1993–1994 season, Grant produced one of his finest individual campaigns, averaging 15.1 points and 11.0 rebounds per game and earning his first NBA All-Star selection.
Grant later continued his successful career with the Orlando Magic and Los Angeles Lakers, ultimately winning a fourth NBA championship with Los Angeles in 2001.
His Chicago legacy, however, remains particularly significant. Grant was the starting power forward during the Bulls’ first championship three-peat and an important member of the team that transformed Chicago into the dominant NBA franchise of the early 1990s.
