The defining moment came on May 22, 2010, when Inter faced Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Final at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid. Two goals from Diego Milito secured a 2–0 victory and delivered Inter their third European Cup.
As captain, Zanetti lifted the Champions League trophy, completing one of the greatest seasons in the club’s history.
Inter also won Serie A and the Coppa Italia during the same campaign, becoming the first Italian club to complete the historic treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia, and UEFA Champions League in a single season.
